In a design that is reminiscent of rabbit tracks running through a winter forest, plaited cables are interspersed with delicate lace insets in this warm and cozy hat. It's the perfect last-minute, one-skein gift.

• yarn: 1 skein SweetGeorgia Merino DK in Saffron (256 yd / 234 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 100% easy-care merino)
  —OR—
  1 skein SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock in Botanical (425 yd / 385 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 80% easy-care merino, 20% nylon), held double
• needles: Size 7 US / 4.5 mm circular needles, 16" / 40 cm long
  Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge
• gauge: 6.5 sts and 8 rows = 4" / 10 cm in cable and lace pattern, relaxed after blocking
  For accurate sizing, always take time to check finished gauge
• finished measurements: Body length: 8.5" / 21.5 cm
  Brim circumference, unstretched: 16" / 40.5 cm
